Crosstown proves its doughnut dough like bread - a sourdough starter, a long slow rise - which makes it chewier and less sweet than the American kind, and then fills it with things like creme brulee, matcha, or raspberry and chocolate. There is gelato and coffee at the same counter.
The Brick Lane shop sits between Beigel Bake and Beigel Shop, which is either very good planning or very bad, and is open from eight in the morning until ten at night every day of the week.
