Laid out in the 1890s and lined on both sides with the same shopfronts, Cecil Court has been a street of book and print dealers for a century, having first been the centre of the early film trade, when it was nicknamed Flicker Alley. Today's shops sell first editions, children's books, maps, theatre ephemera, esoterica and stamps, under the original cast-iron lamps; the eight-year-old Mozart lodged at what is now No. 9 in 1764, and a plaque says so.
