The 1971 musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, which is rougher and more of a period piece than the film made of it: Danny and Sandy meet over a summer, meet again at school in September, and spend the rest of it working out how much of themselves each will give up to keep their friends. City Academy's Studio Company perform it.
