You come in through the Knave of Clubs, a busy pub, and are taken up a staircase most of the drinkers do not know exists. Upstairs is small and bright and the counter is the seat to ask for. A pork schnitzel arrives under mustard sauce and gorgonzola; the pudding is a rice pudding crossed with a creme brulee.
