Henry VIII took it from the monks for deer; the Great Exhibition of 1851, Albert's triumph, stood in a glass palace between Rotten Row and the Serpentine; and the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery still gallops in to fire forty-one-gun salutes here for the sovereign's birthday, the accession and the coronation anniversary. The Diana Memorial Fountain is on the south bank of the Serpentine, and the Queen Elizabeth Gate at the corner.
