The palace's grounds were opened to the public by Victoria's predecessors and became the most royal of the parks: the Round Pond and the Broad Walk in front of the palace, the Albert Memorial at the south edge, the Sunken Garden with Diana's statue, the memorial playground in the north-west corner, and the Peter Pan statue by the Long Water for the children who have finished with the palace. Nannies, prams and the odd royal protection officer.
