In Morley College.
Emma Cons started these at the Old Vic in 1882 to put science within reach of the people working around Waterloo - the first was The Telephone, or How to Talk to a Man a Hundred Miles Away - and priced them at threepence for the balcony, tuppence for the pit and a penny for the gallery. The classes that grew out of them became Morley College.
They are free now, and open to anyone without membership or booking beyond a ticket. The subject has widened from science to whatever an artist, performer, maker, producer or writer has come to say about their own work, and they are given in the Holst Room, the Emma Cons Hall or Morley Gallery.
