Lunch Hour Lecture: Student London

Two hundred years of student life in the capital, at one o'clock with a packed lunch thrown in.

TalkHistoryFree

At University College London.

The Lunch Hour Lectures have run since 1942: an hour, free, no booking beyond a ticket, on whatever the speaker has been working on. Georgina Brewis and Sam Blaxland take the question of what students did to London. In 1826 it was the largest city in the world and had no university; the one founded that year admitted people of any religion, then women, and put tens of thousands of young people into Bloomsbury lodgings who had not been there before. In the Wilkins Building.
