The New York club's first London room, two shows a night under St Martin's Lane.

Blue Note opened on West 3rd Street in Greenwich Village in 1981 and has since put its name on clubs in Tokyo, Milan, Rio, São Paulo, Beijing, Shanghai and Honolulu. This is the first in Britain, and it opened on 23 September 2026, which would have been John Coltrane's hundredth birthday — Robert Glasper played the first two nights.
It occupies part of the ground floor and two basement levels beneath the St Martins Lane Hotel, in a space that was a gym until 2023, with its own door on the street. The main room seats 250 and works the way the New York club does: two separate shows a night, at seven and half past nine, with dinner served through both. A second, hundred-seat room for emerging British musicians follows later in 2026. The bookings so far have been broad even by jazz-club standards — Erykah Badu, Baaba Maal, Nubya Garcia, Digable Planets, Jamie Cullum, the Brand New Heavies — which is the Blue Note house style rather than a hedge.
