The building is the reason to come and the reason the music sounds as it does: an enormous, tall, white interior with a Tuscan colonnade and clear glass, finished in 1729 and restored over nearly thirty years to something close to Hawksmoor's intention.
Spitalfields Music has programmed festivals in and around the church since 1976, and the church also hosts choral and orchestral concerts through the year. The organ is a Richard Bridge instrument of 1735, the largest English organ of its century, restored and playable again after a century of silence.
