A classically trained pianist who writes in an invented vocal language, performing one continuous piece.
At EartH.
Marina Herlop trained as a pianist in Barcelona and then went somewhere else entirely: Pripyat in 2022 and Nekkuja in 2023 built an experimental vocal music out of Carnatic rhythmic technique, layered singing and invented syllables, and put her on festival stages across Europe for three years. Dja Dja, the new record, is conceived as a single connected piece rather than a set of songs, using the shape of the hero's journey to hold it together, and adds brass to what was mostly voice and keyboard. In EartH Theatre, which is the seated room.
