Walter Trout spent the 1980s as a sideman - Canned Heat, then John Mayall's Bluesbreakers - and has spent the thirty-five years since as a bandleader whose playing is louder and more emotionally direct than the genre usually allows. He nearly died waiting for a liver transplant in 2014 and the records since have been about that.
