Andrew Marler bought the pub in 1988, made it hold a thousand and dug the venue in underneath it. The layout is awkward on purpose or by accident - pillars, a balcony rail worth arriving early for, a low wooden floor - and the programme is punk, metal, hardcore, emo and whatever is currently between them.
