Nyima Murry's Encounters: Memories, Museums, Empire and Exile was made for an exhibition at a National Trust house in Derbyshire, and follows two journeys of displacement at once - the objects taken from Tibet and the people who later followed them to Britain - to draw the line between British rule in India and the invasion of Tibet in 1904. A new short by Kunsang Kyirong plays with it.
Both directors take questions afterwards with Emma Martin, who has spent twenty-five years curating Himalayan and Tibetan collections and is the right person to ask what a museum owes the people its objects came from.
The sixth Tibet Film Festival London opens with this.
