Sisters in Law, with Christina Blacklaws

A documentary about a prosecutor and a judge in Cameroon taking on domestic violence, introduced by a former President of the Law Society.

At Genesis Cinema.

Sisters in Law follows a state prosecutor and a court president in Kumba, in the English-speaking part of Cameroon, through cases of domestic violence and child abuse that had not previously been brought. What makes it hold up twenty years on is that it is a film about two women doing a job, filmed close enough that you watch them decide things.

Christina Blacklaws introduces it and takes questions. She was President of the Law Society of England and Wales and ran a global campaign on women in legal leadership, and now sits on the Council of the Human Rights Institute.

Part of the Women Resist season.
