Ten days of first and second features made on very little money, with the opening and closing nights free to anyone who turns up.
Festival
At Genesis Cinema.
The London Independent Film Festival exists for people making their first or second film without money, and shows close to a hundred of them from around the world across ten days, alongside shorts blocks, a pitching workshop and industry sessions. Time Out has called it a treasure trove of undiscovered cinematic gems.
The two ends of it are free and need no registration: an opening night party with a red carpet, and a closing party where the awards are announced. Both fill to capacity and then stop letting people in, which is the only catch.
2 to 11 October; opening and closing nights free
