Quentin Blake gave his archive to found it, and the centre that carries his name opened in June 2026 in the Metropolitan Water Board's engine house and yard off Myddelton Passage: three galleries of changing exhibitions, a library of illustrated books that anyone can read in, and studios where the drawing is done as well as looked at. Blake's own work - Dahl's BFG and Matilda, Mister Magnolia, the Roald Dahl covers - anchors a programme that runs from Victorian picture books to comics and the illustrators working now.
