Conquest: The Making of Norman England

The Norman Conquest read from the documents, a thousand years after William was born.

History

At British Library.

A major exhibition for the millennium of William the Conqueror's birth, covering the generations either side of 1066 rather than the battle itself: what the conquest did to the people who were already here, who resisted it, and what happened to English culture afterwards. It brings together manuscripts and works of art from the Library's own collection and from elsewhere, some of them not shown alongside each other for a generation. It is part of the European Year of the Normans in 2027.
