Hammer, Amicus, and the long second career of a cemetery as a location.
Lecture / talk
Jon Dear's sequel to the talk he gave here in January. Hammer and Amicus shot some of their best-known scenes off Swain's Lane, but the argument is that Highgate has been far more than a vampire's playground on screen: the winding landscape, the structures and the names on the stones have pulled in film-makers well outside horror. Dear has worked with the BFI and with Hammer and produced the seventieth-anniversary event for The Quatermass Experiment at Alexandra Palace. Doors at 19:00 and the talk at 19:30. £10, and a glass of wine is included.
