The building runs to four storeys and is worked all the way up - narrow stairs, fireplaces, panelling - with the same menu served on every floor of it. The kitchen buys direct from British farms: crispy pig's head, crab cakes, lamb chops with turnip tops. The banoffee pie arrived with the pub and has not moved since.
