London's stages and concert rooms: the West End houses and the playhouses that make their own shows, the grand halls, the churches with a musical life, the jazz basements, the comedy clubs, the clubs proper, and the rooms above pubs where things start. What is on is listed under each venue, and in What's On.
What is on at them this week is in What's On: Performance
Sadler's Wells' fourth stage: a 550-seat dance theatre on the Olympic Park, open all day.
Playhouses
Sadler's Wells' newest house opened in Stratford in 2025 at East Bank, the run of new cultural buildings on the Olympic Park that it shares with the V&A, the BBC and the London College of Fashion. The theatre seats 550 and can be reshaped for the work, six studios behind it are where new dance is made and rehearsed, and the programme is the one that fills Rosebery Avenue - hip hop, ballet, flamenco, South Asian dance, companies from across Britain and abroad - with a Christmas show for families.
The building is open through the day, not only for performances: the foyer has a kitchen and bar, and the Dance Floor, a stage of its own in the middle of it, gives free performances by community groups and visiting artists.
