Sprague built it in 1916 as the second half of a pair with the Ambassadors next door, and it is small - 550 seats - with panelled walls rather than plasterwork, which is unusual for the period and makes it feel more like a room than a house.
Agatha Christie's play moved here in March 1974 after twenty-two years across the street, and has not moved since. It is the longest-running production anywhere in the world by a distance no other show is going to close, and it was the first West End show to reopen after the 2020 closures, on 17 May 2021. Whether it is any good is a question people enjoy having; that it is a fact of London is not in dispute.
