Battersea Power Station has four chimneys and one of them is hollow to the sky with a lift in it. The capsule rises through the north-west chimney and keeps going past the rim, so you end up standing in the open air at the height the smoke left at, with 360 degrees from a point most viewing platforms are nowhere near: Westminster and the London Eye downstream, Chelsea and Fulham upstream, the Surrey hills on the southern horizon and the power station's own roof directly below. An exhibition on the building comes first. £24 for an adult, or from £16 for a booked slot.
Open daily, but the closing time moves between 16:30 and 20:00
