Leake Street Arches

A railway tunnel under Waterloo where painting the walls is not only allowed but expected.

Lanes & alleys

The tunnel under Waterloo, repainted again.

Also in Art.

Three hundred metres of Victorian brick under the platforms of Waterloo, opened as a legal graffiti wall by Banksy for the Cans Festival in 2008 and repainted continuously ever since. Nothing on the walls lasts long, so it is a different tunnel every few weeks, and you will usually pass someone with a spray can working on the next layer. Bars and a skate shop have taken the arches off it.
