A cellist who sings, back after seven years with Sampha, Kamasi Washington and Kim Gordon on the record.
At KOKO.
Kelsey Lu trained as a cellist, and Blood in 2019 used that as the foundation for something closer to baroque music than to R&B - voice and cello, loops, and a register that moves between the sacred and the frankly physical. So Help Me God is the first since, co-produced with Jack Antonoff and Yves Rothman, with Sampha, Kamasi Washington, Lady Jess and Kim Gordon on it, and Lu describes it as a reckoning rather than a recovery.
