Singh trained in Canada among the people who found the first cancer stem cells, and with her supervisor Peter Dirks showed that brain tumours are driven by a small population of cells behaving like stem cells - which is why removing the tumour so often fails. Her lecture, given to mark her appointment to the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, is on how those cells keep changing and what it takes to follow them.
