Jonathan Tilbrook conducts. The Debussy is the set of three orchestral Nocturnes written in the 1890s and named for the way light behaves in a Whistler painting rather than for night. The Vaughan Williams is his ninth and last, finished the year he died and for a long time dismissed before the recordings caught up with it.
The evening opens with Tania Leon's Pasajes, written while she was composer-in-residence at the London Philharmonic, and includes a new piece commissioned from a Trinity Laban student.
