She adapted The Hollow herself in 1951 and took Poirot out of it, on the grounds that he did not belong in the story and had been a mistake in the book. What is left is a country house, a shooting, and a family who each have reason enough - which is the kind of play she wrote best when nobody was solving it for the audience.
