Julie Elie of Berkeley works on the sounds animals make and the neural machinery behind producing and hearing them, in zebra finches and Egyptian fruit bats. She presents the work that won her the 2026 prize, and then a panel takes it further - including Irene Pepperberg, who spent thirty years working with an African grey parrot called Alex and changed what people thought birds could do. Hosted by the Jeremy Coller Centre for Animal Sentience.
