Evgeny Morozov: socialism after AI

The technology critic on what artificial intelligence exposes in socialist thinking.

Lecture / talkFree

At London School of Economics.

The old socialist calculation debate asked whether planners or markets allocate better. Morozov's case is that the question moved long ago to creativity and imagination, that artificial intelligence is now enclosing the infrastructure of both, and that the left has no serious theory of technologically mediated action to meet it with - a gap he traces from Europe's search for AI sovereignty to the global south's much longer experience of technological dependence. Chaired by Lea Ypi, for the Ralph Miliband Programme and LSE Law School.
