Cass Sunstein: do social media platforms make people happier?

The behavioural economist on why people keep using something they believe is harming them.

Lecture / talkScience & natureFree

At London School of Economics.

Sunstein's interest is not whether social media is bad for you but why the belief that it is changes so little about anyone's behaviour - the trap where each person uses a platform because everyone else does, and everyone would be better off if the whole group stopped. He ran regulatory affairs in the Obama White House and has advised the World Bank and the United Nations. Liam Delaney chairs.
