Lowther Lodge is Norman Shaw's red-brick house of 1875, built for a Member of Parliament and bought by the Society in 1912, and the objects hanging in its corridors and stairwells are the residue of two centuries of exploration: maps, artworks, instruments, and a globe made for the Great Exhibition of 1851. The tour follows them room by room, explaining how each came into the Collections and what it meant to the people who carried it. Free, and there is a second tour at 16:00.
