George Lewis, the trombonist, composer and historian of the AACM, built the Afrodiasporic Incubator to put Black composers into a contemporary-music world that had largely proceeded without them. This is its first outing in the UK, curated by the vocalist and composer Elaine Mitchener over three days of performances, talks and installations with the Guildhall School.
Pamela Z headlines; the programme runs from Alice Coltrane and Olly Wilson through Anthony Braxton to Hannah Kendall and Charles Uzor, played by Apartment House, the Chiron Choir and an ensemble assembled for the weekend.
