The strand for concerts that refuse to sit still: opera, dance and staged music across the season.
Classical
At Barbican Centre.
Concert Theatre is where the Barbican puts the work that will not fit a concert platform - eight events across the season that stage classical music rather than perform it seated.
Julia Bullock sings Perle Noire, a meditation on Josephine Baker; Hannah Peel and Tala Lee-Turton bring PIA; Compagnie La Tempête and Jasdeep Singh Degun reimagine repertoire from opposite directions; and the Academy of Ancient Music close the season with the circus company Circa, playing Beethoven's only ballet on period instruments while acrobats work above them.
