Composer in Focus: Caroline Shaw

Six evenings with the composer who won a Pulitzer at thirty for a piece written for eight voices.

Classical

At Barbican Centre.

Caroline Shaw took the Pulitzer Prize in 2013 for Partita for 8 Voices, written for the ensemble she sang in, and has since written for orchestras, string quartets, dancers and Kanye West without seeming to change register. The Barbican's season-long focus follows her across six events rather than one concert.

The Attacca Quartet, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Scottish Ensemble all appear; the strand opens with Pam Tanowitz's dance piece Pastoral and closes with Shaw performing alongside the Scottish Ensemble.
