The Royal Ballet School at a hundred, with three companies' dancers on one stage.
Ninette de Valois started the school in 1926 with a handful of pupils and the intention of building a British ballet company out of it, which is what happened. For the centenary the Royal Ballet has gone back into its own archive for pieces that have not been danced in years, and put dancers from the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet and the School itself on the stage together, which is rarer than it sounds.
