Wright made this staging for the company in 1984 and it has been the house Nutcracker ever since, with Julia Trevelyan Oman's designs putting the party in a real Biedermeier drawing room rather than a generic one. What Wright fixed was the second act, which in most productions is a series of turns with no reason to care: here Drosselmeyer has a stake in it, and the story closes properly.
