Cassa Pancho's company back in the Linbury, twenty-six years in.
Pancho started Ballet Black in 2001 because there was nowhere for dancers of Black and Asian descent to build a classical career in this country, and the company has since changed what the rest of British ballet looks like, not least by making pointe shoes in more than one shade a normal thing to ask for. The repertory is commissioned rather than inherited, so the programme is new work.
