Tanowitz choreographs from the music outward and has a reputation for refusing the obvious; Bracewell is a principal at the Royal Ballet. The collaboration is new, and the Rite is heard in a piano arrangement rather than with the orchestra that usually makes it an event, which changes what there is to dance to. Ted Hearne has written a second score alongside it.
