Odette is a woman turned into a swan, Odile is the double sent to trick the prince into swearing to the wrong one, and the same dancer does both, which is the hardest thing in the classical repertory and the reason people go. Scarlett's staging tightens the story and John Macfarlane's designs give it a real place to happen in. Tchaikovsky's score is played live.
